B&M shoppers flock to buy £12 energy-saving hoodie on advice from Martin Lewis

Shoppers in the UK are flocking to budget retailer B&M, after discovering a product that could stop them turning on their heating this winter.

Money-saving expert Martin Lewis previously suggested buying one on his online blog, although he didn’t stipulate a particular brand or model.

With winter fast approaching and colder weather hitting UK shores, combined with Ofgem’s energy price cap reaching new highs, more and more people are worried about their bills of energy and how they will be able to afford to cover them.

And the Manchester Evening News reports that finance guru Martin previously recommended investing in fleece-lined hoodies and blankets to help you stay warm at home without turning on expensive central heating systems. Martin clarified that although he does not endorse any particular product, there are currently many different brands at varying price points on the market.

An eagle-eyed bargain hunter has found a “Snuggle Hoodie” at B&M, which she compares to the popular Oodie – at a fraction of the price. For just £12, she couldn’t leave it on the shelf for someone else to pick up.

The hoodie is large, lined with fleece and has a huge front pocket. It’s basically a large blanket with arms.

Sharing her find in Extreme Coupons and Bargaining UK, she wrote: “I bought these for Christmas but my daughter spotted them in the boot of my car so my daughter and sons got them early as it’s starting to get hot. cold at night.

“These have a nice warm Sherpa lining to snuggle up in to avoid having to use our heating oil right now until it gets colder. I’ve tried on girls ages 11-13 To give you a size guide, I’m 4ft 10” and it fits lol they also have a unicorn or rainbow design, also available in adult sizes.

“I don’t know how they compare to oodies because my daughter wants one, but they are fabulous prices, very warm and comfortable!”

The post received hundreds of comments, with many sharing other similar and cheaper hoodies than the original Oodie. One wrote: ‘Bought these yesterday for my grandkids they are so comfy’, while another added: ‘We got the Primark version last year and lived in it , so we’ve invested in the real thing this year as they’re two for one (still £42 each) but I think it will be worth it with the fuel crisis and considering how many times we’ve worn them l ‘last year.”

A third wrote: “Primark makes them too – very warm.” Another added: “Both of my kids have these. They LOVE them! Definitely recommend.”
