What are you playing this weekend? (November 19)

I’ll be tackling Pokémon Scarlet this weekend for the most part. I’m not very far yet; I’ve beaten two Gym Leaders, two Pokémon Titans, and a Star Crew Leader, even though I’ve already spent a few hours in the game. I’m having so much fun roaming the world of Paldea, but that means I am considerably over-leveled for many areas!

Elsewhere, I’m replaying all the armament of war games on my Series X. I absolutely love this series and even the first two entries still hold up remarkably well. It’s a good way to let off steam, at least!

With all the Black Friday sales kicking off this week, I’m keeping an eye out for something new to play. My eShop wishlist is currently full of great titles, many of which are at a tasty discount. Both golf history and The messenger are calling me right now, and with such huge savings, could this really be a weekend of of them new games??

In truth, the answer is probably no. I stupidly started to play A link to the past on Switch’s SNES library this week and I couldn’t put it down. I’m a Zelda fan through and through, and LTTP is one of those games that hooks me every time I play it for “just five minutes.” Here we go again, I guess…

(*unfortunately, with defeat in his voice*) Pokemon Scarlet. So far so good? But I know it will get worse over time. He also feels very safe. Most of the Pokemon I’ve encountered are ancient, and it’s like Sword and Shield, but sunnier. I know it’s my fault that I come into this game with low expectations, but still.

Also, vampire survivors on my brand new Steam Deck! And a little to the left! And wobbledogs! And Dishonored! It’s a busy weekend.

It’s Pokemon Weekend! Even though I’ve already spent a lot of time on Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, I’m going back for more. I have things to discover in the post-game, items to find, and lots of Pokédexes to complete. i can’t believe i am still find new areas, trainers I missed, etc. One thing I didn’t mention in my review is the fact that I caught three shiny Pokémon, which means I think I might develop a taste for shiny hunting…

Otherwise I strength dive into the Black Friday eShop sale this weekend. Because I totally need more games to sit idly by on my Switch, unplayed.

It’s Pokémon Scarlet & Violet weekend so I’m just trying to pretend to fit in with the rest of the gang who are all excited for these new Spain/Portugal influenced areas to explore and new pokemon to poker (?). With both NieR: Automata and Bayonet 3 still hitting the weekend rounds i’ll have to make room for the ridiculously addictive loop hero and Unpacking, two of my recent physical arrivals. The least said about my current skills at Arkanoid: Eternal Battle the best. I’m afraid I’m also a bit addicted to orbital ball.

The game of the week is Lunistice. Don’t let the fake PS1 polygons fool you, this is a modern platforming masterpiece with precise controls and a smooth frame rate. Are you taking notes, Sonic Frontiers?

As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend game plans!
