Shoppers went wild after spotting a Yankee Candle gift set was cut to half price during the Tesco sale.

Earlier this week, fans of the brand alerted fellow shoppers to the 50% saving on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group.

The ‘autumn/winter’ gift set includes four different sizes of candles – ranging from the smaller votive options, which sell for £2.50 each, to a large jar at £27.99.

Additionally, limited-edition fall products include the orange-scented ‘Reindeer Treats’ candle, a ‘Gingerbread House’ offering, and the brand’s ‘Snow Dusted Pine’, which has notes of eucalyptus and cedar wood.

Although the gift set originally hit Tesco shelves for £40, savvy bargain hunters have noticed it has been reduced to £20 for shoppers with a Clubcard.

After shopping the “Home Inspiration” collection, shoppers shared photos of their bargain with the 2.1 million group members.

After buying one of Yankee Candle’s gift sets last year, a fourth alerted her friend to the product and wrote, “They’re back!!”

However, others expressed frustration at having to apply for a store card to access savings.

“Only if you have a Clubcard,” one fumed.

Another avid shopper wrote, “Not so much in there, there’s usually also a box of scented tealights.”

History of Yankee Candle:

Yankee Candle Company started when Michael Kittredge was just 16 years old.

The late candle company founder couldn’t afford a Christmas present for his mum, so he decided to make one by melting crayons on the stove to create a candle.

A neighbor later asked to buy the candle instead, so Mr Kittredge bought “enough wax to make two candles – one for his mother and one to sell”, according to Greenfield Recorder and started what would become a Yankee Candle day.

Scented candles took the giftware market by storm and the young entrepreneur grew the company into a major international manufacturer and retailer.

In 1983, the company achieved its first million dollar revenue.

The Yankee Candle founder’s sprawling estate began as a three-bedroom Colonial that he bought for $144,000 in 1984, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The house was situated on 1.84 acres, but he continued to scoop up neighboring properties to build a 100+ acre resort.
