Frank Lampard ‘in big trouble’ but Everton urged not to sack him ‘no matter what’ after Premier League loss to Wolves, Toffees’ dismal form continues

Everton have been told NOT to sack Frank Lampard despite the club being thrown into further trouble following the loss to lowly Wolves.

The Toffees were beaten 2-1 by their relegation rivals, Rayan Ait-Nouri securing the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

The result sees Julen Lopetegui’s men bottom of the table and in 18th place, just one point behind 17th-placed Everton.

Further questions over Lampard’s future at the club will no doubt be raised, with Everton suffering seven defeats in their last nine outings, but talkSPORT’s Dean Saunders insists the club’s top brass should stick with their man.

“Obviously Frank Lampard is in big trouble but I wouldn’t fire him no matter what. He’s trying to get this team on the right track,” Saunders said in a commentary for talkSPORT 2.

“They missed chances today, they should have won. The vanguard is not there. »

“They can’t keep changing managers,” Saunders added. “It’s just ridiculous, they have to give someone a chance to undo the damage that’s been done.

“Frank Lampard knows he has to get it right and he will.”

Everton could well find themselves in the relegation zone by the end of 2022 with their next exit seeing them face Manchester City on December 31.

“I think we played a very good game, were the better team and had relative control over the big games in terms of possession and chances,” Lampard said.

“Unfortunately, if you’re not clinical, these things can happen in football and we were hit in the end.

“It’s (a lack of goals) a concern because if you can’t be clinical it’s difficult because it doesn’t give you a comforting game to have goals coming up.

“It’s obvious.”
