Gervonta Davis says he’s ‘not a MONSTER’ and claims allegations he hit a woman are ‘bulls***’

Lightweight boxer Gervonta Davis spoke out, insisting that “I’m not a freak”, after being arrested for domestic violence Tuesday.

Davis broke his silence a day after the arrest, and just hours after his release from prison, defiantly dismissing allegations that he hit a woman with a “hand slap”.

He said in a lengthy post on his Instagram profile, which has since been deleted: “I NEVER PUT MY HANDS ON MY MOTHER CHILD NOR MY F***ING DAUGHTER ARE YOU F****** CRAZY!! “

“I AM NOT A MONSTER,” he added in the now-deleted post. A photo of Davis’ young daughter was posted as he went on to say he watched Frozen with his family “moments” before an argument ensued with the mother of his child.

Davis was arrested in Florida for domestic violence after allegedly hitting a woman with a ‘closed hand type slap’ and leaving her with an abrasion on her lip, according to an incident report from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office .

Davis went on something of a rant in his lengthy Instagram statement, accusing the alleged victim of making a cash grab.

“I’ve been silent for too long. I don’t have a media team, PR, a good lawyer… a spokesperson, nothing but that… that’s the only reason I’m doing this now! Just to clear my name!

‘[I] having a fucking helicopter flying over my house now that i’m writing this because they consider this shit to be money for them and trying to get as much money as possible.

Davis also rejected a recording of the alleged victim’s 911 call, which was released by TMZ: ‘He’s going to kill me!… I need help, please! I try to go home. I have my baby in the car, and he attacked me in front of the child. And now it’s ruining my tires!

In his statement, Davis strongly rebuked the allegations heard on the call.

‘They are doing this for money and also to destroy me!! I’m not a freak,” Davis said. ‘I have two beautiful daughters who have to grow up one day and see those *** bulls!! They display these *** bulls all over the world above all else!

The victim’s name did not appear in the incident report provided to DailyMail.com. However, it is stated that she and the WBA lightweight champion have a child together, although they are not cohabiting.

Davis remained in custody after Wednesday’s hearing, where bail was set at $1,000. Although he was released later that day after posting bail. He faces a misdemeanor domestic violence charge of assault causing bodily harm, according to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records.

One of boxing’s leading lights, Davis was set to defend his WBA (regular) lightweight title against Hector Garcia on Jan. 7 in what was seen as a tune-up fight ahead of a tantalizing clash with his arch-rival long time. Ryan Garcia (23-0) in April. However, both fights are now in jeopardy following the arrest of the undefeated 28-year-old in Fort Lauderdale.

PBC, Davis’ promoter, declined to comment on DailyMail.com. Neither TGB Promotions, which is hosting the event, nor Davis’ US broadcaster Showtime has commented on his arrest or what it might mean for the upcoming fight.

However, the fight with the 24-year-old Garcia was also threatened by the legal battle Davis (27-0 with 25 KOs) is facing in Baltimore over a hit and run allegation. His trial in that case is set to begin Feb. 16 in Baltimore Circuit Court.

Davis is facing 14 charges related to an alleged hit-and-run accident in the early hours of November 5, 2020 in which four people were injured. If found guilty, he faces more than four years in prison.

In February 2020, Davis was charged with misdemeanor battery following an incident in which he was seen “beating up his former girlfriend”, according to police in Coral Gables, Florida.

That case was released on Dec. 13, but a viral video emerged showing the 5-foot-7 lightweight grabbing a woman near her neck during a basketball game and dragging her off camera.

Davis acknowledged the video, but denied hitting the woman.

The former boxing icon wonderkid Floyd Mayweather left the Money promotion company last week.

Despite his legal troubles, Davis is known as one of boxing’s most devastating punchers, with a knockout percentage to win of 93%. During his brief career, Davis knocked out headliners such as Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios and Jose Pedraza.
