Billie Shepherd has hit back at mum-shamers after receiving backlash on Tuesday for her six-year-old son Arthur’s new bedroom decor.
the old TOWIE star, 33, who is renovating her £1.4million Essex mansion with husband Greg Shepherd, 38, caused a stir when she shared the video.
Billie took to her family home’s Instagram account to show off the results of the lavish, neutral-toned bedroom that was recently decorated.
But it divided a lot of opinions as some fans thought it was too “bland” and were surprised when they found out it wasn’t an adult room.
She posted the video which revealed her walk-in closet, double bed, gold lighting, huge TV on the wall, dinosaur frames and a globe on her bedside table.
The mum-of-three captioned her post: ‘A glimpse of Arthur’s bedroom… All the lighting in this room is from’. We look forward to showing you the full set soon.
Fans gushed to the comments in shock to find this was Arthur’s bedroom and said: ‘Not inspiring for a little boy. It seems bland and characterless. Sorry!’
“A model house, not a child’s room.”
“It just doesn’t look like a little boy’s room.”
“Gorgeous room, but don’t feel like that for a young boy like where’s his own stamp on his room.”
‘A nice room, but not for a 6 year old! Poor Arthur, I hope when you’re not filming it’s covered in books and toys and clutter.
“She looks more like a hotel room than a child’s room, she has no character, she needs color, toys, fun.”
The Mummy Diaries star commented on the mum-shamers and said: “Guys, I think some people need to calm down. Some of you get so upset and critical.
“Arthur’s bedroom is not complete and this post focuses on the beautiful lighting we have chosen and we have a playroom where he has all his toys.” This is her lovely quiet space to relax and sleep.
Although some were angered by Billie’s bedroom decor choice, other fans were in favor and in awe of her bedroom.
Fans commented, “Gorgeous!! And how adorable he keeps it so tidy and can play in his playroom.
“People need to stop saying it’s not a kid’s room, it’s a very calming and relaxing space where he can relax and that’s what bedrooms are for.
“It looks flawless because she probably just put it away for the picture, I’m sure it wouldn’t be like this every day.” She probably has a playroom for the kids where it’s an absolute mess and the kids have a lot of fun. Stop judging.
‘Haven’t any of you seen the football goals, the swimming pool, the playroom full of toys and the endless holiday memories?!’
“I don’t think there’s anything missing in having a cozy, quiet bedroom instead of a character-themed bedroom!”
“If you also watch Arthur on the show, he gets aroused sometimes, so a calming space would do wonders for him! X’
The couple, parents of Nelly, 9, Arthur and Margot, 7 months, have been busy renovating the four-bed 1920s property they bought in January 2021.
