Pokémon GO July 2023 Community Day Classic Makeup Event Guide

Pokémon GO’s long-running monthly event, Community Day, turned 5 years old in 2023. Five years means a plethora of Pokémon have been featured with event-exclusive special attacks and increased Shiny rates. (And now that it’s 2023, that’s worth five years!) Still, for new Trainers, chances are they’ve missed most of those gatherings.

In January 2022 (during Heritage Season), Niantic brought back a Community Day from 2018 (Bulbasaur Community Day) and called it Community Day Classic. This event was based on the old Community Day format (times, Pokemon from the previous Community Day, etc.), with a slight upgrade (namely photobomb encounters).

What used to be considered a one-time event (or just a test) is now a new spin-off series of Community Day events. Niantic held a second Community Day Classic in April 2022 and continues to hold Community Day Classic events. Read on for all the details on this month’s event that will transport you to July 2018 Community Day.

NOTE: This is a makeup event for the original Classic July 2023 Community Day Event with Squirtle. Trainers who log into the game via the Pokémon Trainer Club account method were unable to participate (due to connection issues). Therefore, on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 12:30 PM PT, the official Pokémon social media channels announced that a face painting event would take place (with Pokémon GO accounts retweeting/sharing the post).
