Cerebras Systems Accelerates Global Growth with New Office in India

SUNNYVALE, CA & BANGALORE, INDIA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Cerebras Systems, the pioneer in accelerating artificial intelligence (AI) computing, today announced its continued global expansion with the opening of a new Indian office in Bangalore, India. Led by industry veteran Lakshmi Ramachandran, the new engineering office will focus on accelerating R&D efforts and supporting local customers. With a target of over sixty engineers by the end of the year, and over twenty currently employed, Cerebras is looking to rapidly strengthen its presence in Bangalore.

As part of the India expansion, Cerebras has appointed Ramachandran as Head of Engineering and Indian Site Manager at Cerebras India. Based in Bangalore, Ramachandran brings over 24 years of technical and leadership experience in software and engineering. Prior to joining Cerebras, she worked at Intel in various engineering and management roles. Most recently, she was Senior Director of Intel’s Data Center and AI Group, responsible for delivering key capabilities in deep learning software for AI accelerators. She has extensive experience in scaling up business operations and building technical engineering teams in India.

The Cerebras CS-2 is the fastest AI system in existence and it’s powered by the largest processor ever built – the Cerebras Wafer-Scale Engine 2 (WSE-2), which is 56 times larger than the competitor the closest. As a result, the CS-2 offers more AI-optimized compute cores, faster memory, and more fabric bandwidth than any other deep learning processor in existence. It was specifically designed to accelerate deep learning workloads, reducing response time by orders of magnitude.

With a CS-2, Cerebras recently set a world record for the largest AI model trained on a single device.
